Alcohol-Based Hand Sanitizer Gel

Clorox™ Hand Sanitizer Gel contains at least 70% alcohol. The FDA and CDC both recommend a 60–95% alcohol content for consumer antiseptic rub.

Apply. Put enough product on hands to cover all surfaces.

Rub hands together, until dry.

Note: Do not rinse or wipe off the hand sanitizer gel before it's dry; it may not work as well against germs.

Supervise young children when they use hand sanitizer gel to prevent swallowing, as per FDA instructions.

CDC recommends frequent hand washing with soap and water as the best way to get rid of germs on hands in most situations. If soap and water are not readily available, CDC recommends using alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Although alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing 60–95% alcohol can be effective at killing some types of germs, soap and water are preferred when accessible or when hands are visibly dirty or greasy.
